SUSTAINABILITY

A place to unwind — and a place we work hard to protect

We’re very lucky to share this special corner of Shropshire with you, and we’re committed to doing our bit to keep it thriving.
Behind the scenes, we’ve been steadily investing in ways to minimise our impact, care for the environment, and support the community around us — all while keeping the peace and tranquility our guests love.

From big projects like the hydro-electric plan to take us off grid, to the tiny biodegradable coffee pods (that cost a bit more but are the right thing to do), we look at every little detail.

Already, we’ve reinvested 100% of our profits from the first five years directly back into this precious spot to keep it special for you, and the future.

Doing our bit - here’s a few things you might notice (and a few you might not):

-
Local sourcing – always within 30 where possible – including our cabins and lodges!
-
A collection of electric buggies and hybrid vehicles to cut emissions
-
Robotic mowers and electric tools for quieter, cleaner groundskeeping
-
Bio-disc systems for low-impact waste treatment
-
Ongoing investment in tree planting and landscape care
-
Solar panels and air-source heat pumps to reduce our energy footprint
-
Water testing kits for local river health, welcoming back wildlife
-
An accessible toilet block and new automatic gate for improved inclusion and access
-
Ethically sourced linen and eco friendly products throughout

And because it matters just as much to us to support our local area, we’re proud to have contributed nearly £4 million into the local Shropshire economy through jobs, suppliers and partnerships — as well as donations to regional charities and community groups, all for a more sustainable future.

It’s a cycle we’re proud of: guests come to enjoy nature and we all leave it even better supported.

What’s next?
Our game changing hydroelectric project using the River Perry within our grounds is progressing well ready for planning in January, and our new website is coming soon, with improved functionality for everyone.

We're over the moon to have won the 2025 West Midlands Tourism Awards Best Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable Tourism Business Award for a third year running and are a finalist for the new 2026 Regenerative Tourism Award.
